I am writing this blog to you all just shortly after my match with Ric Flair occurred tonight. WOW!!!!! That’s the first word that comes to mind. I defeated the Nature Boy Ric Flair. I still can not believe it. I still have pinched myself once or twice to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. Don’t get me wrong, its not that I ever doubted I could physically beat Ric Flair, but I never thought I’d have the opportunity to compete against “the dirtiest” player in the history of the game. And when I realized that I indeed was going to have the opportunity to wrestle Ric Flair, how in the world, I thought to myself, can I ever come close to matching this guys experience and ring savy?? After all, this is Ric Flair we are talking about. He is without a doubt, a true legend who has paved the way for this business and all who are in it.
Abyss is cutting a promo in a dark area backstage, saying the ring drives him and makes him believe in himself. He says it’s in his head that Hogan believes in him, and that it’s not the ring that powers him. He tells Flair he is going to take his ring when Flair loses the match tonight.
As always, highlight the text below to read the spoilers.
Main event: Ring vs. Ring – Ric Flair vs. Abyss.
Winner after a brass knux shot to the nuts, Ric Flair. Earl Hebner found the knux and restarted the match. Winner via Black Hole Slam, Abyss. Hogan’s music hits and he comes out collect Flair’s ring. Abyss and Hogan pose with their rings. Hogan knows who he’s going to present the ring too, right here next week, brother. Hogan props himself up in a corner and Abyss whipped Flair into him for a big boot.
JB is telling the camera crew to follow him and he can hear screaming coming from AJ Styles’ locker room. AJ is saying it’s not fair and that Flair is also barred from ringside. Flair says it wasn’t part of their plan, but he knows AJ can beat whoever he has to face. He also wants a rematch of Team Hogan vs Team Flair and he is giving a five minute time limit. It doesn’t matter who Hogan brings because Flair is declaring himself winner by forfeit. He screams at JB and tells him to get out as he slams the door.
Abyss and Jeff Jarrett are in the ring to answer Flair’s challenge and Abyss has a microphone. He tells Flair they heard about the challenge, but the war between them ended last night when they did what they said they would do and kicked Team Flair’s ass. He says if RVD and Hardy weren’t already scheduled in a match that they would have no problem fighting them again. Ric Flair comes out with his team and flat out tells Abyss to kiss his ass. He sends his team to the ring and Abyss and Jarrett are trying to fend them off but can’t for long. Rob Terry’s music hits and he comes out and cleans house. He press slams Desmond Wolfe into Sting and Flair is screaming at Jarrett, telling hiim he is a dead man. Eric Bischoff comes out and says he thought Flair learned his lesson last night. Bischoff says Flair will get his rematch, but he is adding Rob Terry to the match, and another partner who Bischoff says is dying to lace up his boots and kick Flair’s ass.
Starting things off will be for Team Hogan – Abyss. For Team Flair, it will be Robert Roode. Abyss has been dominating Roode for the first period so far. The next entry will be a member of Team Hogan since RVD gave their team the advantage by defeating James Storm earlier tonight. Roode finally fighting back here as he takes the action to Abyss. Abyss fights back and slams Roode face-first into the cage a few times. Roode comes off the middle rope with a blockbuster style neck breaker. The 10 second countdown begins and next out is Rob Van Dam. RVD and Abyss now have a two-on-one advantage over Roode. RVD quickly goes to work on Roode. RVD is bleeding again already, nothing from this match though, still from the match with Storm earlier. The 10 second countdown hits and Desmond Wolfe comes out to even things up. RVD and Abyss have Roode down and are waiting for Storm. Roode low blows Abyss from behind as Wolfe enters. They fight is out for a while. Next out is Jeff Jarrett for Team Hogan. They’re coming in quickly. Another short wild brawl and James Storm comes out. Jeff Hardy is scheduled to come out next but we see Hardy laid out backstage with Sting standing over him with a bat. And finally for Team Flair, Sting comes out. He enters the cage and calls for the Lethal Lockdown roof to be lowered. It is and now all the weapons are in the ring. This match is now pin or submission to win. Abyss sprinkles a bag of tacks all over the mat. He tries to chokeslam Sting onto them but Storm smashes a beer bottle over his head. All of Team Flair raise their hands. Jeff Hardy’s music hits and out he comes with a kendo stick. He cleans house of everyone, beating them down with the stick. Jarrett blasts Wolfe with a guitar shot in the ring. RVD hits a frogsplash on Wolfe in the ring. Abyss chokeslams Sting onto the tacks in the ring. Hardy climbs up the cage outside the ring. He’s standing on the roof and challenges Beer Money to come up. They each climb up different sides. Hardy beats Storm and Roode with a kendo stick and a trash can lid. They eventually get the better of him and they set up a table on top of the cage. There’s also a ladder laying there. Hardy hits Roode with the Twist of Fate on the roof. He puts Storm onto the table thats set up on the roof. He picks the ladder up and sets it up. He climbs to the very top of the ladder and comes off onto Storm through the tables with a splash. “Holy sh*t” and “TNA” chants in the croud. Ric Flair’s music hits and out comes Flair. Flair comes in and beats up Abyss. He’s trying to take the Hall Of Fame ring off him. As he does, Hulk Hogan’s music hits. Hogan comes out and enters the ring now. He points at Flair and walks toward him with a baseball bat. Eric Bischoff runs out and gets in front of Hogan. Bischoff pulls out brass knucks and hands them to Hogan. Flair thought Bischoff was helping him. Hogan knocks Flair out with the knucks. Flair is bleeding like a stuck pig. Hogan smashes his face into the cage on each side. Hogan hits Flair one more time and Flair stumbles away to do the Flair-flop but instead falls back first onto the thumb tacks. Hogan continues to beat on Flair while Abyss hits Wolfe with the Blackhole Slam for the pin.
Beer Money ended up losing to Jeff Jarrett & Abyss. Beer Money worked very hard for several minutes to turn the crowd against them before the faces were introduced. Jarrett played babyface in peril for a long time before Abyss finally got the hot tag. Several near falls by each team after that, finally ending with Abyss pinning Roode after a black hole slam.

Ya know, this time of year is one of my favorites for many reasons. The sun is out, things are warming up quite nicely from the cold winter I experienced, the trees are all covered in leaves, all the birds that ran south for the winter are returning, AND its LOCKDOWN time here in TNA. This is one of my favorite pay per view events of the year for several reasons. First and foremost, the level of violence and brutality that is exhibited at LOCKDOWN is unequaled in all of pro wrestling. I myself have sustained some of my most impactful injuries and bad cuts at this pay per view than any other TNA has during the year and guess what??……I love it like that. Lockdown is the premier hardcore event offered by TNA and the entire wrestling business. I have some unreal and incredible memories of LOCKDOWN. Some involve me, some don’t.
My most lasting memory was main eventing the first LOCKDOWN ever back in 2005 against AJ Styles. It was the first time either of us had main evented a pay per view event since TNA began running the pay per views on Sundays. The pressure was immence to say the least, but AJ and I, like I believe we have always done, delivered on an excellent match that was brutal and vicious on both if us. AJ sustained a massive cut on his head when I swung the cage door into his face. Remember that??? Or how about when AJ gave me his patented Styles Clash into the tacs??? The match was excellent and took a toll on both of us. I sustained a seperated shoulder during the event. I could barely climb the cage at the end before AJ capitalized and sunset flipped powerbombed me off the top of the cage. It was lights out for me. Seriously, I only remember seeing a flash of white as I landed. It was like turning off an old TV, everything went blank. When I came to, the referee had just counted the three count.
Scheduled for the TNA Lockdown Fan Interaction this Saturday are Christy Hemme, Jeremy Borash, SoCal Val, Dave Penzer, TNA champion AJ Styles , Rob Van Dam, Team 3D, Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett , Abyss, Tara, Eric Young , Mike Tenay, Taz, TNA X-Division champion Douglas Williams, Jesse Neal, Hector Guerrero, Willie Urbina, referee Slick Johnson, Kurt Angle , Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, Ken. Anderson, Beer Money, D’Angelo Dinero, TNA Knockouts Tag Team champions The Beautiful People, Desmond Wolfe, Chelsea, Kazarian, The Amazing Red, TNA Global Champion Rob Terry, Orlando Jordan, TNA Knockouts champion Angelina Love, and Earl Hebner.
I know, I said Abyss wouldn’t be on iMPACT! this week, but all he had were backstage promos. And those do not get revealed in the tapings, most of the time. But I highly recommend reading the results, it’s not something you’ll want to miss out on.
Christy Hemme is in the back with yet another backstage promo, this time she is with Abyss and Pope. Pope says after Lockdown he is going to be pimpin’ and jivin’ but Abyss says they have more important things to deal with. He says tonight, they have AJ and Wolfe right where they want them, and tells Wolfe it will take more than a fire extinguisher to take him down. He says they better take his last breath to beat him, because that is the only way he’ll be defeated and vows he will not let Hogan down on Sunday.
Christy is outside the Impact Zone and is looking upset. Abyss is on the ground as he is surrounded by trainers. She says all they know if they heard a car speed off and when they know more information they will keep everybody informed.
In the back, Christy is updating Abyss’s condition, saying he is being stabilized and that they have a surveillance tape showing what happened to him. When they show the tape, Abyss is in the parking lot and his is rundown by a white car. They enhance the video and catch a glimpse of the driver. It appears to resemble Desmond Wolfe, but Christy says we can draw our own conclusions and sends it back to ringside.
